Integrating Technology and Service Learning
The North American Division of Seventh-day Adventist "Journey to Excellence" lists 10 goals for curriculum in Adventist schools. Two of these goals are not always easy to integrate into the curriculum: #4) Responsible Citzenship, and #10) Career and service. How does the busy elementary or secondary teacher fit these goals into the already overpacked curriculum? This course will help educators realize the importance of developing service projects for their students, discover what is happening in the world of "service learning," learn how to integrate content with service, and complete a project to help impact their own community through service learning. This course addresses the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers I-IV.

Prerequisites: Participants should have completed AVLN’s Integrating Technology in the Curriculum or equivalent course (must be proficient with their available technology, such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, FrontPage or other web design program; all of these may not necessarily be used but may be incorporated into participant’s projects).

- Learn to function in an online course.
- Assess local technology availability
