Shelley Ann Bacon, Teacher, AE21 Distributed Education
Shelley Bacon is World History Humanities Teacher with AE21. Before joining their staff in 2001, she taught junior academy and spent 20 years raising four children. She lives in Colville, Washington.
Marilyn Eggers
Marilyn Eggers is just finishing a grant-funded position as North American Division (Seventh-day Adventist education system for the U.S. and Canada) Distance Education Coordinator. Before that position, she worked as the Advancing Technology in Education (ATIE) Director for the Pacific Union Conference, a five state (AZ, CA, HA, NV, UT) district of the Seventh-day Adventist educational system. Marilyn has a Ph.D. in Leadership from Andrews University and is a longtime AVLN board member. She recently co-edited a special issue of the Journal of Adventist Education on distance education issues.

Shirley Freed, Ph.D., is Professor of Leadership and Qualitative Research in the School of Education at Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan, where she currently teaches all of her classes online.
David Jeffrey, Business Dept. Head, Crawford Adventist Academy

He enjoys combining business education with computer technology and counts it a privilege to teach in a computer lab every day. David has taken and later co-taught Active Online Learning/Teaching. David is an active fan of online communication, and can often be found moderating conversation in the Seventh-day Adventist chat room on Microsoft Chats. David and his laptop are rarely parted.
Donn Leiske, Instructor, Elma High School.
Donn Leiske taught for 17 years in Washington State. He is the founder/former-owner of Shopware Educational Systems, a company for educational training and testing software and videos. He has a web consulting business and is the project founder and webmaster of AdventistBookCenter.com. Leiske is the co-founder/co-owner of Classes Direct Inc., an eClass platform provider. He has been named to: "Best Educational Video" award, "Who's Who of Global Business Leaders", and Honorary Chairman of the Business Advisory Council (WA State) for the National Republican Congressional Committee. He has served as a member of the following committees: Washington Conference Executive Committee; SDA Academy Vocational Curriculum Committee, Andrews University; Industrial Technology Advisory Committee, Walla Walla College.

She coordinates distance learning which includes video conferencing and online courses for 18 public school districts and many private school in Berrien and Cass counties. Janine writes a regular column for the Journal of Adventist Education and for the MACUL Newsletter. Janine has served on the board of AVLN since 2000. She coordinates the AVLN online courses and maintains the AVLN web site. Janine is also webmaster for Pioneer Memorial Church, on the campus of Andrews University.
Laural Manegre
Laural is an executive speaker who challenges her audiences to expand their way of thinking. She clearly conveys there is no limit to what you are capable of doing, just the limits you place on yourself. Laural has led an amazing life of successes over challenges that would make most of us wither into complacency and futility. Instead of succumbing to the obstacles life threw her way, Laural sought out ways to overcome them. As a true leader, she not only triumphed personally, she has developed into one of the foremost and sought after motivational speakers and facilitators. As Laural shares her life, her stories and her achievements she creates an atmosphere of energy and enthusiasm empowering her listeners with the motivation to reach within and cultivate their own innate abilities and natural gifts to create their own success through growth, freedom and personal excellence.

Melvin is a retired Director of Education for the Mid-America Union. He currently is providing services to Adventist education as a consultant. He is an author. Melvin serves on the AVLN board as AVLN Treasurer and Instructor. He also is a Mid-America Adventist Virtual School instructor.
Bob Paulson, Assistant Professor, Pacific Union College
Bob Paulson is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, Health, and Nutrition at Pacific Union College in Angwin, California. He is currently working on a Ph.D. in leadership at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, with an emphasis in Web-based education. Mr. Paulson's claim to fame on the Internet is that he teaches probably the world's only Web-based, for-college-credit exercise class, "Cyber Jogging."
Mark Thogmartin, Assistant Head of Ohio Virtual Academy
Mark Thogmartin has served as a classroom teacher, reading and math tutor, technology coordinator, and building principal during his 23 years as an educator in both private and public schools. Currently, Mark is the Assistant Head of School for the Ohio Virtual Academy. He has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Kentucky, a master's degree in reading from the Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. from Andrews University in Leadership. Mark's book, Teach a Child to Read With Children's Books, has gained wide acceptance among reading tutors and those teaching their children at home.
Chris Wohlwend, K-2 Teacher, Ohio Virtual Academy
Christine Wohlwend currently works as a kindergarten, first, and second grade teacher with Ohio Virtual Academy. She also functions as the school's training coordinator. Mrs. Wohlwend received both her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and her Master of Arts degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Akron. Prior to her work in virtual education, she taught fourth grade in her local school district. With a background in technology leadership, she has served on numerous committees, including District Technology, Professional Development, Gifted and Talented, and the Superintendent's Advisory Technology Team.

Dr. Walters is the Director for the Graduate Medical Education Core Curriculum Program of Loma Linda University. Dr. Walters is also Associate Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology. As a gynecologist and reproductive endocrinologist, he has practiced both in a University practice as well as private practice for total of 28 years.
He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he completed a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Connecticut. He recently completed his Executive MBA at the Claremont Graduate School in the Peter F. Drucker School of Business Management. He also is serving as President of the Loma Linda University School of Medicine Alumni Association for the 2003-2004 term, and is an active board member of the San Bernardino County Medical Society.
Dr. Walters' passion is for teaching and creating new and better environments for student learning. His desire is to move away from the traditional "shame-based" model of learning to the "inspirational" model of learning while holding academic standards high. He sees online learning as the future of learning for a large population base that might not otherwise enjoy collegiate or university degree possibilities. He currently directs the first fully online learning program for nearly 500 resident physicians who are to master 150 hours of material over three years.
