AVLN Invitational Session: Integrating Faith and Learning and Worldview Issues
Sunday, June 23, 1:30-5:30 pm.

This invitational is for those faculty who already teach an SDA foundations class and who will give feedback to AVLN members about the online resources they are developing. When we are finished, it is our goal to have whole courses or modules that each institution may use online. Our plan is to have these materials available to English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

AVLN Invitational Session: Technology Support and AVLN Standards Issues
Wednesday, June 26, 8:30 am - 12:30pm

This invitational is for people involved in faculty development and technology support. We will preview the Active Online Teaching course modules and get feedback about how those materials might be used by your institution. And we invite you to share ways you are providing for training and support. AVLN is prepared to serve our modules off of our server or to provide them to your institution to use for faculty development. We plan to facilitate a conversation that will result in at least one more "course" where the primary objective is to develop a course and have it (or major parts of it) ready for online instruction.

AVLN Coordinators: Shirley Freed, Professor of Education, Andrews University, and Eva Pereira Nascimento, Professor of Ecology and Environmental Education, Brazilian SDA University at São Paulo

AVLN Invitational Session: AVLN Faithware and Credit Issues
Wednesday, June 26, 1:30- 5:30 pm.

Designing Online Courses: A Process Approach
Too often the process of designing a course is more like making a new copy of the syllabus and/or lesson plans and trying to stay at least a day ahead of the students. This session will show a mission centered model for continuous course design--the Mission-Infinity model. This model, in a clear graphic, shows the corollary relationship between thinking and doing, two crucial parts of the curriculum development process. Further, this session will show how the model has been applied to the creation of a web
site resource for people wanting to create online courses.

Redesigning Adventist Education in the 21st Century: A Conversational Approach to Applying the Principles of E.G. White.
Adventist education has, and is changing lives; God is very clearly working. Could it be, however, that we have room for improvement in our schools? In this interactive session, participants will be lead in a group process to redesign Adventist Education. This series of exercises will start with individual and group visioning and move toward designing a new Adventist school; a school consistent with the writings of E.G. White and ready for living within the 21st century.
