Policy and Procedures

AVLN Faithware
Faithware are courses that are developed by Seventh-day Adventist educators. The courses integrate faith and learning and meet the AVLN Standards for Teaching Online. The courses are developed in a spirit of sharing and offered to Christian education worldwide without aim to profit financially.AVLN Collaborative Partner

Partner Hosting
In order to enter into collaborative partnership with AVLN for using Faithware, an institution must:
- Have an AVLN instructor willing to be responsible for the Faithware at that institution and attend the AVLN conference following their use of the Faithware to provide feedback to the collaboration.
- Agree that the Faithware will not be sold in any form.
- Pay US$200 to transfer the Faithware materials to their server. Exception: Non-USA Seventh-day Adventist institutions should contact exec@avln.org for international rates.
Modifications to AVLN Faithware
In the spirit of AVLN collaboration, institutions are encouraged to improve and adapt the Faithware for their use as needed. Adaptations must be shared on the Faithware Design listserv and at the AVLN conference each year that the Faithware is used. Institutions have the legal right to modify the course but not to resell it in any form.Changes made to the course fit into two categories:
- Hosted outside the course. Partners can link the AVLN Faithware to materials they have developed on their own website. In this scenario, the partner retains ownership of their own materials. AVLN requests that the link be made as permanent as possible.
- Partner shares new or modified materials within the AVLN Faithware. New and revised pages must include a credit footer for all contributors - partner and original developers. AVLN credit footers must be left on all pages not developed or modified by the institution. The partner and AVLN equally own course materials given to AVLN by the partner.
AVLN Faithware Development
Faithware Design Teams will continue to develop and improve the Faithware based on observations and feedback from Collaborative Partners. This team will make the final decisions on modifications to the AVLN Faithware. New versions of the AVLN Faithware will be made available to AVLN Collaborative Partners at a reduced rate. A naming convention for AVLN Faithware versions will be implemented. Each version will include a credit page, listing individuals who contributed to the AVLN Faithware.
