All around North American Division individuals are watching pressures mount on education. Every time the TV or radio is turned on, every time a magazine or journal is opened, dire announcements and reports are frequently made about failing schools, colleges, and universities. Experts testify that education must adapt to a new way of teaching and learning...or close. Some are terrified. The comfortable life as they now know it is threatened. Stress mounts. Blood pressure soars. Perspiration beads on nervous foreheads.

Others, however, see new possibilities. Their imaginations whip up fantastic visions of things that never before have been done. They can't sleep at night because their minds have grabbed hold of titillating ideas and intriguing new concepts. They talk about them to anyone who will even pretend to be interested...and even to those who don't pretend. They are energized. Many here and there around NAD are already pioneers in distributed education* but yearn to be part of a collaborative community with others like themselves to share visions, resources, and solutions to problems.

It is time for all these educators to come together to create a unique collaborative made possible by rapid technological developments in this momentous period of history. There are no preconceived plans being brought to the Orlando meeting. No ulterior agendas. No hidden motives.

"Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, 'How can I help?" Romans 15:2, The Message

Envision a round table with educators from K-12 and higher education all working together for the good of students and teachers across North American Division...regardless of geographical boundaries. Networking, sharing, brainstorming, helping each other. It almost sounds like heaven on earth.

"Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in Him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you're on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up at any minute!" Philippians 4: 4-5, The Message

Indeed, our goal is to use technology to better prepare students for a life of service and for Jesus' soon coming. Time is of the essence. So whether or not you are able to participate in the Orlando meetings, please join with us as we seek to create new solutions to old challenges.

*There is much debate on what the terms distance learning, distance education, and distributed education actually mean. Many, however, are using the term distributed education to include any means to teach students regardless of distance, geography, and time; therefore, this is the term we will use for now.
