In due course I hope to build some further resources (i.e. bibliography, etc.) in the resources link. For now, I'm starting off with the seven IFL works with which I'm most acquainted:

  1. My article, "The Measure of a School" in the December, 1977-January, 1978 issue of The Journal of Adventist Education.
  2. The two-part in-service Journal of Adventist Education supplements, Spring and Summer of 1980, which Dr. Robert Moon and I co-authored, entitled "The Integration of Faith, Learning, and Practice in Christian Education." (In this piece we examined at considerable length some of the inherent IFL themes of the various academic disciplines.
  3. Also, there was the prize-winning issue of JAE, December 1993/January 1994 devoted to this topic, in which I wrote the lead article, "Nurturing Faith in the Christian School." Some of the concepts we have discussed here-and a few others-are elaborated in greater depth there.
  4. Number Four 1-hr. lecture) in the Akers six-part video series, Dimensions of Excellence in Christian Education (Adventist educational philosophy) deals exclusively with IFL, entitled "Thinking Christian: The Integration of Faith and Learning." The set is available on loan from the instructional Resource Center of the James White Library, Andrews University, the GC Dept of Education Library, and several of the Union departments of education in the NAD
  5. From the pen of the evangelical IFL pioneer, Frank E. Gabelein, who started all this with his ground-breaking little paperback The Pattern of God's Truth, Moody Press, circa 1960. ("Must" reading!).
  6. And the several books from his disciple, Arthur Holmes, of Wheaton College, the most notable of which are The Idea of a Christian College and All Truth is God's Truth.
  7. George Knight in the 3rd edition of Philosophy and Education has 14 pages dedicated to a discussion of IFL (pp209-222). Andrews University Press, 1998.
  8. Many SDA educational professionals have been surprised to learn that there are six magnificent chapters on philosophy of Christian education in the book Ministry of Healing, pp 395-466 (rivals the scope and majestic soaring prose of Mrs. E.G.W. in her premier book, Education). These chapters have trmendous implications for IFL.
