Downloading Graphics
Think carefully about the graphics and clip art you will put on your page. You can spend hours trying to find quality images on the Net. A few sites are listed below. Read this article on Template Art, Template Thinking, MultiMediocracy and Other TomFoolery before you pick up too many graphics. Also consider copyright law. Another idea is to get a digital camera and fill your site with pictures from around your school.
Decide Where to Save Your Web Pages and Graphic Files
Decide whether you will save your web pages on a disk or on your hard drive. These instructions will assume that you are saving to a disk. If you save to the hard drive, create a folder for the web pages (or use the web folder created earlier) and then create a folder inside the web page folder for the graphics.Make a folder on your disk.
PC: Start, Programs, Windows Explorer
Click on 3 ½ floppy (A:)
From the menu, choose File, New, Folder
Type images for the name of your folder, press return.MAC: Put in your disk. When it shows up on the desktop, double click on it.

Sometimes when doing a multimedia project, you need some graphics to add interest to your presentation. There are many sites on the Internet that offer free graphics. Each one has its own policy on legal use -- dictated by the creator's preferences. Be sure to follow their instructions carefully so you don't infringe on copyright laws.Each of the links below will open a new web browser window so that you can easily switch between the assignment here and the other web sites. Just close the window when you are finished and you'll be back here.

When you see a graphic you like, (and have permission to use it),
PC: right click over the picture.
MAC: click and hold over the picture.A menu like the pictures below will appear:

Macintosh:
You will see several options. Choose Save Image As... and save it to an appropriate directory on your hard drive.
Then pull it up in whatever program you wish! For our purposes, save a few to practice. Then you'll learn how to add them to your web page.
