Document Options

You can change document options such as the default text color and the background.

Click on the document option button beside the link button
or (MAC) Edit, Document Options
or (PC) Tools, Document Options

Be sure you are viewing the Appearance Tab

The Text, Background, and Link options will change the default colors. Be sure your page is easy to read. Also think carefully before you use a light text on a dark background. If you want people to be able to print your page, use a dark text on a light background.

If you have an image on your disk you wish to use as the background, use Set... to tell the browser where to find the image. Or you can use Remove to delete the background image from your page.

A background image is a small file such as  and will be repeated over and over to create a background. View this page with the example file as a background.

Note: Claris HomePage comes with some nice backgrounds
Use the library feature as we did with graphics to add these backgrounds.

From the menu, choose File, Library
Pick the backgrounds library.

Click on the picture you would like to use.
Then click the Use as Page Background, then select the page you want it added to.

Hint: this can be nice if you want the same background for several pages. Just open all the pages, open the library as directed above, choose the graphic, choose Use as Page Background, then one by one, add it to each page by selecting the pages from the drop down list.

Other Document Options

If you need to change the document title (remember this is the name of your page when someone bookmarks your page), click the Parameters Tab and change the title under Document Title. In the example below, the document title is incorrect. It should be something like Welcome to My Page.
