To Edit a Page in WebCT Using Netscape Composer

While viewing a page on the web via Netscape, click on File, Edit Page (or Edit Frame if what you want is in only part of the page -- WebCT does a lot of this).  You can then edit the page as desired.

Click on the Publish icon (or File, Publish)

You will see the following screen:

Confirm that the Title for the file is correct or enter if it is blank (this is especially important as this will become the name on the Content path so should be what you want students to see to know what is in the document).

Be sure that you use the exact same filename if you are wanting to change that file in WebCT.  If you capitalize it differently or spell it differently, you will create another file rather than replacing the original one.  You may have to go to WebCT's file manager to find the file name.

The HTTP or FTP Location should be:   http://webct.andrews.edu/coursename
where coursename is your WebCT course name.

The username and password fields should contain your WebCT designer username and password, unless you are already in your course in WebCT in another window.  In that case they can be left blank.

If you have linked to any image files, they will be listed in the box labeled "other files to include"  If you do not want to upload these as well, click on the file names.
    Click on OK.

The reload button while viewing your page in WebCT so that you get a new copy and not the one saved on your computer's cache.

(Cache is where copies of pages you have previously viewed are stored on disk to speed up your access time for future uses.  It can cause confusion when those pages are being changed as Netscape will load the page from your computer's cache rather than going out to the Web site to get a new page.  You can change the setting in Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Cache by marking Every Time for the option to "Document in cache is compared to document on network" to eliminate this problem.)
